New TZ Bridge May Destroy These Homes

Nyack resident Elijah Reichlin-Melnick, who recently ran for a seat on the Orangetown Town Board, posted this today on one of the Nyack blog sites, listing the exact addresses of houses slated to be demolished if the new TZ Bridge Plan becomes reality….
“I've been reading through the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the TZB. It looks like the Thruway will be demolishing six houses in South Nyack: 21 Cornelison Ave, 78 Smith Ave. and four houses along South Broadway just south of the bridge over the Thruway. Specifically, if you're driving south on Broadway towards 9W, they plan to demolish the first three houses on your left after crossing the bridge, and the first house on the right, at the south corner of Broadway and Elizabeth St.”
Another blow to South Nyack, which bore the brunt of the destruction to make way for the FIRST bridge project in the 1950s!
“It’s 1955 all over again,” wrote village Mayor Tish DuBow in a press release. “Once again, the state is steamrolling South Nyack.”
