Filling an unwanted swimming pool in Orangetown
Listing or selling a house can sometimes come with unseen problems for the Realtor. Underground oil tanks can be one, or like my latest listing, a swimming pool that had been filled with dirt and gravel without a permit from the town. Because the sellers were no longer living in the county it fell on me to get this problem remedied. I can tell you that not only is this expensive but also time consuming. You have to get an engineer or architect to oversee the project as well as estimates from licensed contractors that can add up to thousands of dollars. The pool has to be collapsed and have the bottom drilled with holes so that it does not become a dangerous sink hole. The material used to fill the pool has to be approved by the town in this case Orangetown since the house is in Tappan. So, when that pool is no longer welcomed in your back yard make sure it is disposed of correctly to avoid any unnecessary headaches in the future.
